A City of Masters: Nashville’s Songwriters and Musicians

I was honored to speak at the Annenburg Space for Photography on August 14, 2014. My lecture focused on my songwriter and musician series I have been shooting the past 24 years here in Nashville.
You can check out the Iris Nights Lecture series at this address…
It has been quite the experience digging through years of old negatives, slides, contact sheets. Researching old digital is not as easy as I thought it would be either!
I am posting one image of Tootsies I located… shot in July of 1990. Broadway was a little more quiet back then.

Buddy Guy rocks Nashville

Blues rock legend Buddy Guy visited Nashville recently… Amazing talent. High point of the show was Buddy jumping off the stage and walking through War Memorial Auditorium never missing a beat… Jamming every step of the way.

Heart hits Nashville!

Really enjoyed meeting Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart last night.
They played a private show for Music With Friends Nashville.
Top moment of the night? A choir popped up during the encore and they reprised their version of Led Zeps “Stairway to Heaven”.

Yes indeed it was HEAVEn…

Musicians Hall of Fame Inductions 2014

I covered the recent Musician Hall of Fame inductions here in Nashville the other night.
Some incredible talent getting some of the recognition they truly deserve!
Met the incredible Billy Cox, Neil Young, and caught up with some old friends including Mike Farris and Gordon Kennedy.

Also loved the SRV Double Trouble reunion with Kenny Wayne Shepherd on guitar and Mike Farris on vocals.
Will post a few photos…

The Santa Train 2013

The Santa Train made its 71st 110-mile run through rural Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee Saturday, Nov. 23, distributing thousands of gifts and toys to families along the route.Rising country music star and runner-up of “American Idol” season 12 Kree Harrison joined Santa Claus and the many volunteers on this years run.

One of my favorite events of the year I always look forward to documenting the very long day…
